History

Olaf Herrmann, Managing Director and owner of Herrmann Motorenentwicklung GmbH, has many years of expertise, among others as a project consultant for the automotive and supplier industry, as well as a wide range of experience in the field of national and international motor sport since the 1980s.. He has been active in the design and development of different engine types since 1993, when he founded Hermann Motorenentwicklung as a side project. Since 1999 he has worked full-time on the design of complete engines and their tuning. In 2010, his company merged with Duesenfeld GmbH & Co. KG, where Olaf Herrmann was a co-shareholder and managing director. In 2014 the shareholders were separated and Herrmann Motorenentwicklung GmbH was founded independently.

At the same time, the company transformed its previous field of activity to a new business model: the leasing of test bench capacities and the associated service of engine tuning. In doing so, he developed a new service concept that is unique on the market. Since 2019, the company has been in its new home at Hans-Birnbaum-Straße 16 in the Salzgitter-Engelnstedt industrial estate, iconveniently located near the A39 and the nearby feeder roads for the A2 and A7 motorways.

The new building was designed according to the various application, include a closed roller power dxynamometer and three stationary performance test benches for internal combustion engines in addition to assembly, material processing and workshop areas, as well as offices, staff rooms and additional workshop spaces. The design ensures strict spatial separation in the processing of individual customer projects, so that each client only has access to its own project and insights into external projects are ruled out.

This also ensures a complete secrecy of data and orders of each individual customer. The floor plan and the arrangement of the preparation and storage rooms near the test benches offer the employees short distances for effective project processing.
